A Local's Guide to North Palm Beach, Florida

The Village of North Palm Beach is a small incorporated village on the Lake Worth Lagoon and Intracoastal Waterway in northern Palm Beach County, about nine miles north of West Palm Beach by the Village's own description. Its public life runs along a handful of streets: US-1 (Village Hall and the Country Club), Anchorage Drive (the library and Anchorage Park), Prosperity Farms Road (the Community Center and Osborne Park) and Lakeside Drive (Lakeside Park). This guide is the orientation: where things are, what the public can use, which facilities are resident-only, and where the Village ends. For the feel of the place and the housing tradeoffs, read what living here is like.

First, Know Where the Village Actually Is

Do not picture a simple strip between US-1 and the water. The Village has its own boundary, and it does not match the North Palm Beach postal area. Its neighbors are Palm Beach Gardens to the north, the Town of Lake Park along much of Northlake Boulevard to the south (overview), and unincorporated Palm Beach County pockets that can carry a North Palm Beach mailing address.

Check any address three ways: the Village's code compliance zone map, which labels the Village boundary, the Intracoastal and the Earman River Canal; the County's municipal boundary layer; and the parcel number, since the County's zoning FAQ says a number starting with 00 is unincorporated. This matters for homes, marinas and shopping centers alike. A business or park with a North Palm Beach address is not automatically a Village facility.

Getting Your Bearings: The Roads and Landmarks

Use the street names the Village's own facilities carry:

• US-1 (Federal Highway) is the main commercial road. Village Hall is at 501 US-1, the police and fire rescue buildings at 560 US-1, the Building Division at 701 US-1, and the Country Club at 951 US-1.
• Northlake Boulevard is the east-west corridor that meets US-1 and, along much of its length, marks the line with Lake Park.
• Anchorage Drive holds the library (303) and Anchorage Park (603).
• Prosperity Farms Road holds Osborne Park (705) and the Community Center (1200). The road also crosses the Earman River on a low bridge that the County has proposed to replace (2022 Coast Guard notice).
• Lakeside Drive is the address of Lakeside Park, and Lakeshore Drive is where the Safe Harbor Old Port Cove marina sits (116).
• Lighthouse Drive crosses the North Palm Beach Canal on a fixed bridge the Village plans to replace (project page).

The Intracoastal Waterway and Lake Worth Lagoon are the big water. The Earman River and the North Palm Beach Canal are the other named waterways. For a boater, bridge clearance on these waterways is a real constraint (see the living guide for the details).

Understanding North Palm Beach's Different Areas

Think in four settings rather than neighborhoods. Our neighborhood guide compares them. Established residential streets are the interior blocks, many from the decades after the Village's 1956 incorporation. Waterfront and canal streets put homes on the lagoon, the Intracoastal or a canal, and that does not mean the same water access for each. The US-1 corridor is where commercial and civic uses concentrate, so check what sits next to any address. Marina communities such as those around Old Port Cove sit on Lakeshore Drive. These are patterns, not guarantees: each street has to be checked.

Parks and Outdoor Recreation

The Village's recreation facilities page lists the parks. Three are worth knowing by name.

Anchorage Park

Anchorage Park at 603 Anchorage Drive is the Village's largest, about 21.5 acres. The Village lists a baseball field, two tennis and pickleball courts, four sand volleyball courts, a fitness trail, large and small dog parks, two fishing piers, a kayak and paddleboard launch, a children's playground with sail shade and a zip line, and one large and eight small pavilions.

What is public and what is resident-only. Visiting the park, the piers and the kayak launch does not require a permit, per the Village. The boat ramp does: launching a trailered boat requires a permit decal, available to residents with proof of residency, a driver's license and a vehicle registration (Village FAQ). The dry and wet boat storage is for residents only, and there is a waiting list for every size, which you must be a resident to join (Marina and Boat Storage). A resident does not automatically get a slip.

Construction notice. The Village has posted work at Anchorage Park starting October 12 and expected to finish by the end of October, with the west-side fishing pier and large pavilion closed meanwhile. Check the park page before you visit.

Lakeside Park

Lakeside Park is the waterside-and-play park, not a boating one. The Village lists beach access, a playground, swings, pull-up bars, a sand volleyball court, a basketball court and a tiki-hut picnic shelter, which is open for public use and cannot be rented privately. It is open from sunrise to sunset, and the parking lot gate opens on a posted schedule. Its facility page gives 805 Lakeside Drive, while an older page says 680, so confirm with your map app. Compared with Anchorage Park, it has no boat ramp or storage.

Osborne Park

Osborne Park at 705 Prosperity Farms Road (some Village pages list 715) is the active-recreation park: lighted baseball fields, outdoor basketball and handball courts, racquetball courts, batting cages and three lighted pickleball courts installed in 2024, plus a volunteer-run community garden. The Village's newsletter page is where park improvements and access changes are announced.

The North Palm Beach Country Club

The North Palm Beach Country Club at 951 US-1 is owned by the Village and open to the public. It is not a private club, though not every amenity is open on the same terms to everyone. The golf course was redesigned by Nicklaus Design (a 2006 project), is open for public play seven days a week, and golf membership is currently sold out with a waitlist. The ten-court lighted Har-Tru Tennis Center and the pool have memberships with separate resident and nonresident categories. The Grill Room serves the public daily, and the club's dining page has the current menus and hours. We found no pickleball at the club. The public courts are at Anchorage Park, Osborne Park and the Community Center.

On funding. The Village budgets the club as an enterprise fund, and its own documents describe transfers from the General Fund to the club and a $1.7 million General Fund advance for the 2018 golf renovation. So the club is neither simply self-supporting nor simply tax-funded. See the Village's budget summary for current figures. Using it is optional. It is one amenity among many, and the living guide covers its social role.

Boating, Marinas and Waterfront Access

Four different things get called "marina" or "boat access", and they are not interchangeable.

Commercial marinas are private businesses, not Village services. Safe Harbor North Palm Beach lists transient slips for vessels of 20 to 120 feet, and Safe Harbor Old Port Cove lists transient slips for 30 to 200 feet. Both set their own rates and policies. A private dock behind a canal-front house is another category again, and a home's route to open water depends on its canal, depth and fixed-bridge clearances. Ocean access runs toward Lake Worth (Palm Beach) Inlet, and no listing can promise it. We give no travel times. Shopping, Dining and Everyday Errands

Errands cluster on US-1 and Northlake Boulevard, a corridor the Village shares with Lake Park. A Publix-anchored shopping center sits at Northlake and US-1, on or near the line, so check the address if the municipality matters. Palm Beach Gardens to the north and West Palm Beach to the south supply the larger-scale shopping and services. Beaches and Nearby Coastal Recreation

North Palm Beach is a waterfront Village, but its water is the Intracoastal, the lagoon and canals. The Atlantic beaches are a separate trip, and the Singer Island ones are outside the Village.

• John D. MacArthur Beach State Park** at 10900 Jack Nicklaus Drive is run by the state, with posted hours (8 a.m. to sundown daily), per-vehicle entrance fees and a nature center. It carries a North Palm Beach mailing address, but it is a state park under state rules, not a Village facility. We could not confirm from the state's pages whether the parcel lies inside the Village limits, so check the County's boundary layer if that matters to you.
• Singer Island has county beach parks, including Ocean Reef Park at 3860 North Ocean Drive and Phil Foster Park at 900 East Blue Heron Boulevard. Both list sunrise-to-sunset beach hours, and Phil Foster requires a permit for boat-trailer parking. Check each page for parking and fees.

We give no drive times, which change with traffic, bridges and season. Test the route you would actually take.

Community Resources and Local Events

• Village Hall** (501 US-1) handles the Village's administrative services.
• **The North Palm Beach Library** (303 Anchorage Drive) is a Village library with story times, lectures and other programs. Residents of the Village can get a library card, and the Village's card page explains eligibility for others.
• **The Community Center** (1200 Prosperity Farms Road) has a gym, open gym and a pickleball program, and room rentals, often with different resident and nonresident rates.
• Events are posted on the Village's calendar and special events page. As of October 10, 2026, listings included the free Boo Village family event at the Community Center on October 17 and a dog costume contest at Anchorage Park on October 31. Dates change, so confirm on the calendar.

A Practical North Palm Beach Exploration Route

A half-day orientation using public places only, in street order. We give no times, since they depend on your day and the season.

1. US-1 corridor. Start at Village Hall (501 US-1) to see the commercial spine, then pass the Country Club at 951 US-1. The Grill Room is open to the public if you want a stop. 2. Anchorage Drive. The library (303) and Anchorage Park (603) are on the same street. Walk the fitness trail or the piers (check the construction notice), and look at the kayak launch. 3. Lakeside Drive. Lakeside Park (805) shows the Village's lagoon side without the boating. 4. Optional: Prosperity Farms Road. Osborne Park (705) and the Community Center (1200).

If it rains: the library, the Community Center's gym, the Grill Room and a visit to the Village's calendar for indoor events. Stay on public streets and facilities. Neighborhoods are where people live, not attractions.

Getting Settled: What Newcomers Should Know

• Confirm the jurisdiction first. Village, Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Park or unincorporated county. It sets your rules, permits and recreation rates.
• Utilities. Water and sewer come from Seacoast Utility Authority, not the Village (Village FAQ).
• Permits. The Building Division handles flood zone determinations and permits for docks, seawalls, pools and fences.
• Flood and storms. Check the parcel's flood zone and evacuation zone, and see the Village's flood insurance page. Property records and taxes are the County's, through the Property Appraiser.
• Schools follow the address, so use the School District of Palm Beach County's boundary tools for the exact parcel.
• Resident-only access. The boat ramp and storage need proof of residency, so ask before you count on them.
• You do not have to join anything. The club, the parks and the library each work on their own terms, and a social life here does not depend on one of them.
